This is Andrea, it’s her birthday!
She lives alone in a small town in the Southeastern US, where she’s close to her two daughters since she can no longer drive. Her daughters have helped her get by and have shown her how to use her phone to get deliveries and enjoy other comforts. Today. she has plans with her daughters for dinner,
Over the years, Andrea has developed a tradition of her own, she goes to her favorite spot for breakfast on her birthday, and, being that she can not drive and her daughters are preparing for tonight, she decides to see if she can get her food delivered, instead.
She visits Thanks a Latte’s website, and realizes that they don’t work with the usual apps (something to do with the fact that these apps don’t pay their workers fairly, I’ve read on Twitter), so, instead, they recommend she uses Gopher.
THIS IS GOPHER!
Gopher makes it possible for people to get help with tasks (such as deliveries, household chores, specialty services, etc.) from others.
How it works:
You visit the app, make a request, offer how much you would pay for such request, and wait for someone to accept it and complete it for you
A Gopher (not a real one, although that would be way cuter) will complete the task you requested and gets paid
For this, there are two apps: Gopher, which is the app for the requester, and GopherGO, the app for the gopher.
What makes Gopher different: There is no limitation on speed, cost, task, or delivery. The pay structure is: Cost + Gopher Offering (how much are you willing to pay this person for XYZ) + Gopher fee ($2.00ish for operations), that’s it! As a Gopher, you are not limited to a location or tasks and get paid right away.
I designed these screens to have the same character and fonts, but I went heavier on the blue on the main consumer app, and all green on the service app.
This is Kelsey, it’s NOT her birthday!
Kelsey is a married mom of two, who is easing her way back into the work force, her wife, Laura, a firefighter who is the main bread winner of the household.
As Kelsey looks for part-time work, she also realizes that, because Laura’s firefighting rotating shifts, she won’t always have the same availability to work.
Kelsey looked for “make your own schedule” type of work, found a few, but a lot of them don’t really offer as much flexibility as she thought. Some also take so much from fees that it’s barely worth it.
Through her favorite place, Thanks a Latte, she found Gopher, and decides to give it a try, and she loves it because she gets to shop and run errands without the kids and has a sense of freedom.
Today is Saturday (Andrea’s birthday), she normally wouldn’t work on Saturdays because the kids are off school, but today Laura is off, and she decides to make herself available for the morning.
She notices Andrea’s request, she secretly wanted to pick up something for herself at Thanks a Latte anyway, so she decides to take on Andrea’s request.
Making a request
To get her breakfast delivered, Andrea fills out the form, she gets to type her request, exactly how she likes her breakfast, and is able to also add how much she would like to pay the Gopher who will bring her breakfast.
The request form is only one page, all she has to do is ask for what she wants, and enter how much she’s willing to pay for it.
ACCEPTING a request
Kelsey logs into her GopherGo account, it automatically reads her location (obviously with permission) and she selects how far she’s willing to look for requests, and which one to pick.
She sees that there’s a request to pick up someone’s breakfast at her favorite coffee shop, Thanks a Latte, so she accepts that one!
COMPLETING a request in gophergo
Kelsey drives to Thanks a Latte, places Andrea’s order, and, orders herself a hot mocha. Pays for Andrea’s order with the GopherGO card, and pays for her drink with her own money.
Once it’s ready, she delivers Andrea’s order and completes the request.
She has the option to leave Andrea a review, and provides a good one! Then she is told by the app that her money is on the way to her account!
COMPLETING a request in gopher
Andrea is so excited to have her favorite breakfast on her birthday thanks to Kelsey and Gopher!
She is notified when Kelsey accepts the order, is able to see the status on the screen, and is also able to leave Kelsey a fabulous review!
