This is Michael, he’s a 24yr old Brooklyn native, single, sells insurance and aspires to be a full-time musician one day. He actually has a music side-gig and performs all the time. He makes good extra money doing this, and is saving to re-invest in his music career. He isn’t always able to go on the road, or, perform as much as he really wants, but then, he found Go Live.

With Go Live, he can perform from the comfort of his home-studio, without the need to move equipment, get helpers, travel, and all the logistics of live performances. He can also reach more people as he can be streamed anywhere in the world!

With Go Live, Michael can schedule online performances on days he’s available, and viewers can buy virtual tickets, watch him perform and tip him in the end. Michael gets paid immediately after his performance and continue pursuing his music career.

NERDY UX STUFF ABOUT THIS

Here, we can identify some problems:

  • To reach his goal of being a full-time musician, Michael needs a better way to fit his passion with his current work time

  • He needs extra money, and we are going to assume that the sooner, the better (this economy, right!?)

  • He is 24, and based on much research on his generation, he is very comfortable in front of his camera, and uses his phone for most things, and so do his peers

  • Because of the above, his peers are also most likely very comfortable with technology, and viewing live content is part of their dailies

Go Live is a virtual stage where viewers can enjoy live streamed performances by artists from all over the world! As a viewer, you could interact with the artist and vice versa, and you can show your gratitude by tipping a little (or a lot) extra for a great performance.

FLOWS AND SCREENS

Brand Exploration

BRANDING EXPLORATION

If you’ve been at a performance, you know when they turn the lights down right before the show starts? That’s the feel I am trying to capture here. Go Live has a mix of old-school and modern vibe, stages are dark, until the lights come on and all heck breaks loose. When a viewer signs in, they will feel a similar sensation as when the concert is about to start, so the mood is “wait for it …”

About these Screens

  • Sign In and Sign Up

  • Swipe right/left to view all the performances available today and in the next week. Reasoning behind this is that based on research, we knew:

  • Users prefer left/right swipes

  • In the scenario of producing more content than anticipated, visitors won’t get overwhelmed with disorganized options

  • One-step tipping to make it easy for the viewer to go back to their regular life

  • DESIGN: Go Live is different, it mixes outside with inside, it’s unexpected, this is where the irregular spacing and angles idea came from. Paired with a nice balance between dark and bright colors to represent that vibe you get when the lights come on!

Michael’s fans can visit Go Live and find him in the performances page, they can see if his event is currently live or not by the icon next to his photo, they can swipe to view other performances, and they can tip the artist a little extra when the performance is over.

When the performance is over, michael can view how much he made that night, and when to expect his funds

About these screens

  • When the artist finishes a performance, they see a screen that gives them a total of how much they made and instructions on how they will be paid

  • Payment screen is simple and expected

HAPPY ENDING

thanks to go live performers can now have a new way to connect with their fans and grow their fan base in a very casual and safe environment
